Hi. I'm Christy.
I am a writer. I wrote my first book series when I was in 3rd grade (and had all my classmates check the books out, like a real library) and haven't stopped writing since. I was asked recently if I would take 30 million dollars if it meant I could never use another notebook, journal, or any other form of physical pen and paper again, and my answer was an absolute no. I am happiest when I have a fountain pen in my hand.
I am a learner. If I could get paid to go to college for the rest of my life, that's what I'd be doing. I want to know everything about everything. Cookie decorating, 3D printing, glass blowing, herbal remedies, vintage typewriters, the meaning of life... I've never met a special interest I didn't want to explore. My biggest disappointment in life is the fact that I can't live forever because the list of things I want to learn more about is endless.
And I am a teacher. When figure out the secret to a perfect sugar cookie that doesn't spread, or a new way of thinking about something that relieves some of my anxiety, I want to share it with EVERYONE. It sometimes feels like a physical thing trying to get out of my head and into the world. And because I'm forever a beginner, I have a unique ability to share things in a way that almost anyone can comprehend.
Topics I can write about:*
Travel. I can write about travel for those in the industry, and for those who just love to do it.
I've worked in the travel industry for most of the last 20+ years. I've worked as a home-based leisure agent, a corporate travel agent for Facebook, in content marketing for a small luxury agency, and as a podcast host (Travel Geniuses) and educator, helping travel agents streamline their businesses so they can spend less time on the boring stuff, and more time designing amazing vacations for their clients.
I'm also a traveler and have been to every continent on the planet. I've traveled on luxury cruise ships, and on the cheap.
Business. I've spent years studying business and marketing both on my own and from experts. I spent several years working for a well-known online marketing educator, coaching his students and helping them implement the things they learned.
Hobbies. Watercolor, bookbinding, 3d printing, quilting, collage, papercraft, pottery, vintage sewing machines, journals and planners, fountain pens, reading... You name it, I've probably tried it. I also have a bit of an obsession with journals, planners, and fountain pens.
Life. As someone who has struggled with depression most of her life, I am always looking for ways to feel better mentally and let life just be fun.
I was diagnosed with ADHD late in life, and by that time I had already amassed a ton tips and tricks that helped me keep my life together. I'm not sure if it's the ADHD, or just a personality trait, but I'm extremely lazy. Not that I don't do anything, but I want to do the boring things as quickly as possible so that I have more time to learn and do interesting things. So I have a ton of life hacks that I love to share with people.
I'm also a mom of 3 amazing adults, and Gaga to 3 curious and expressive little girls. I'm the first one my friends and family call when they need parenting advice. Or any advice, for that matter.
*Not a complete list. We don't have time for that.
